Booking & Payments

How do I book a pitch?

Book online through our website or by phone. Advance booking is recommended, especially during peak season.

We take one night’s stay as a deposit, with the balance due 28 days before arrival.

What age do I have to be to book?

Unsupervised campers must be 21 or older.

Can I request a specific pitch?

Leave a note in the comments box when booking. We’ll do our best, but we can’t guarantee specific pitches.

What is your cancellation policy?

Deposits are non-refundable. Cancellations made 28 days or more before arrival receive a refund of any balance paid (minus the deposit).

Arrival & Departure

What are your check-in and check-out times?
  • Check-in: 2:00pm – 7:00pm
  • Check-out: By 11:00am

Need early arrival or late departure? Contact us in advance—we’ll accommodate you if possible, though a fee may apply.

Are you open all year?

No, our season runs from 1st May to the end of September.

Facilities

What facilities do you have on-site?

Do you have electric hook-ups?

Yes, on selected pitches for caravans, motorhomes, and tents.

Is there WiFi?

No on-site WiFi. EE has the best mobile coverage here. Free WiFi is available at the Country Inn next door.

Is there a shop on-site?

No. The nearest supermarket is in Hawick, about a 15-minute drive (7 miles).

Do you have EV charging?

Not on-site, but there are fast chargers in Hawick, about 10 minutes away.

Is there public transport nearby?

No bus or train stations nearby.

Rules & Etiquette

Can I have a BBQ or campfire?

  • Raised BBQs are allowed
  • Disposable BBQs are not permitted
  • Firepits can be brought or rented—logs must be purchased on-site
Is music allowed?

We’re a quiet, family campsite. Music must be kept low, not disturb other guests, and be turned off by 10pm.

What time must children be back at their pitch?

By 10pm.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes—well-behaved dogs are welcome. Please keep them on a lead and clean up after them.

What about rubbish and recycling?

Bins are provided and emptied Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please take large items, boxes, and camping gear home with you, and leave your pitch completely clear. We recommend leaving unnecessary packaging at home.

Family & Activities

Is the site family-friendly?

Absolutely. There’s plenty of space for children to play and safe walking areas. A well-equipped playground is also located in the village.

Are there activities on-site?

No organised activities, but there’s lots to explore nearby.

Can I swim or paddleboard in the river?

Yes! Our stretch of the Rule Water is perfect for a refreshing dip, launching a paddleboard, or practising your strokes. For longer paddles, try:

Can I fish from the riverbank?

No—for safety and to protect the river ecosystem, fishing from the riverbank isn’t permitted. You can fish at Alemoor Loch. The Target Species: The loch is famous for its hard-fighting pike. Permits Required: Like many places in Scotland, you do not need a state fishing license, but you must have a permit or permission to fish. The loch is managed by Hawick Angling Club (01450 373771). Permits and tickets can typically be obtained locally in Hawick (such as from pet and tackle shops or post offices) or directly via club representatives.

What about midges?

The eastern Borders is less midge-prone than the Highlands, but we still recommend being prepared—just in case.

Tips for Your Stay

  • Bring a torch
  • Wear sturdy footwear—paths and pitches can be stony
  • Pack aqua shoes if you’re heading into the river
  • Bring warm layers—Scottish Borders evenings can be chilly, even in summer
  • Check local weather before you travel
  • Book early for bank holidays and school breaks
  • Take as much rubbish home as you can
